An internship through the Locust Walk Impact Partners / Wharton Social Venture Fund program prepares students to apply sound business and investment principles toward complex social issues and become leaders in the impact investing industry. Each year, the program selects Wharton students based on commitment, experience and industry knowledge. With the institutional support of the Wharton Social Impact Initiative, the WSVF provides student members high quality training on impact investing, the investment process and portfolio management.

The program offers a select group of Wharton students unparalleled experiential learning through the unique opportunity to:

• Participate in training sessions regarding social impact, investment processes, early-stage valuation and legal documentation.

• Learn how to be an early-stage investor by participating in all parts of the investment process, including:

o Sector mapping
o Deal sourcing and screening
o Operational and financial due diligence
o Investment committee process
o Fund formation and fund raising
o Portfolio management
o Community interaction and external marketing

• Become well-positioned to pursue a career in impact investing through:

o Direct contact with leading social entrepreneurs
o Training and first-hand experience in social impact evaluation and metrics
o Unparalleled industry networking and impact investing job placement opportunities

• Help shape the future direction of business education and the finance industry
